MUSIC, THEATRE AND DANCE ON THE COAST OF MAINE
Our YMCA provides a safe and supportive environment for youth and adults to explore their creative side through the performing arts. With an emphasis on the importance of learning as a team our programs offer theatrical and musical adventures year round. Check the program guide for current offerings.
"Everybody Sings Free" Choirs
Free to any youth in the community our Youth Chorus (Ages 7-13) and Kiddie Choir (Ages 3-6) meet once a week to sing and dance in the YMCA Annex. Both groups perform throughout the school year at various locations in the region.
Private Voice Lessons
The Y-Arts Voice Studio is led by Arts and Humanities Director, Emily Mirabile. Students meet once a week for one on one Lessons in the YARTS Office.
Private Violin Lessons
Join Emily Sue Barker for private violin lessons. Learning to play a musical instrument is incredibly beneficial to a child's developing brain. There is no other happiness like the joy that comes from sharing your music with those around you. Lessons are open to all ages and levels. To sign up, contact Emily Barker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Arts For All
Intended for youth and adults with mental or physical disabilities, Arts For All offers monthly workshops where participants come together to rehearse and perform Readers Theatre productions of classic stories. Workshops also including dancing, games, and singing in an enthusiastic and supportive environment.
Y-Arts performers, under the direction of Emily Mirabile, come together in the Fall and Spring to rehearse and perform musicals from the Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Collection.
Additionally, youth are encouraged to join the cast of the Winter Musical in which performers from the Boothbay YMCA and CLC YMCA come together for a collaborative production of a new musical.
Intended for youth ages 3-8, our Broadway Babies productions give our youngest rising stars the chance to take center stage. These mini musicals are written specifically for each cast enabling our Director the opportunity to give each participant a line or solo. Offered seasonally.
Y-Arts Music Theatre Competition Team
Students from the YARTS Program rehearse throughout the year in preparation to compete at the annual Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, GA. Our Team has had grand success in past years bringing home awards for Outstanding Production, and Excellence in Acting, Dance and Ensemble Work.
