Our YMCA provides a safe and supportive environment for youth and adults to explore their creative side through the performing arts. With an emphasis on the importance of learning as a team our programs offer theatrical and musical adventures year round. Check the program guide for current offerings.
"Everybody Sings Free" Choirs
Free to any youth in the community our Youth Chorus (Ages 7-13) and Kiddie Choir (Ages 3-6) meet once a week to sing and dance in the YMCA Annex. Both groups perform throughout the school year at various locations in the region.
Private Voice Lessons (Currently booked out until further notice)
The Y-Arts Voice Studio is led by Arts and Humanities Director, Emily Mirabile. Students meet once a week for one on one Lessons in the YARTS Office.
Private Violin Lessons
Join Emily Sue Barker for private violin lessons. Learning to play a musical instrument is incredibly beneficial to a child's developing brain. There is no other happiness like the joy that comes from sharing your music with those around you. Lessons are open to all ages and levels. Arts For All
Intended for youth and adults with mental or physical disabilities, Arts For All offers monthly workshops where participants come together to rehearse and perform Readers Theatre productions of classic stories. Workshops also including dancing, games, and singing in an enthusiastic and supportive environment.
Broadway Junior Musical Theatre Productions
Y-Arts performers, under the direction of Emily Mirabile, come together in the Fall and Spring to rehearse and perform musicals from the Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Collection.
Additionally, youth are encouraged to join the cast of the Winter Musical in which performers from the Boothbay YMCA and CLC YMCA come together for a collaborative production of a new musical.
Intended for youth ages 3-8, our Broadway Babies productions give our youngest rising stars the chance to take center stage. These mini musicals are written specifically for each cast enabling our Director the opportunity to give each participant a line or solo. Offered seasonally.
Y-Arts Music Theatre Competition Team
Students from the YARTS Program rehearse throughout the year in preparation to compete at the annual Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, GA. Our Team has had grand success in past years bringing home awards for Outstanding Production, and Excellence in Acting, Dance and Ensemble Work.

NEW Y ARTS OFFERINGS
COMIC BOOK ART
In this 7-Week class, students will work on developing characters and setting up a multi-page comic book. We will work on drawing skills and linking comics along with working in Illustrator on the computer. For ages 7-14
In this 7-Week mixed media class, students will work in several mediums such as glass fusion, sea glass art, fabric painting, and printmaking. For ages 6-12.
START THE ARTS EARLY: MIXED MEDIA
In this 7-Week mixed media class, students will work in several mediums such as glass fusion, sea glass art, fabric painting, and printmaking. Class will be led by Kathy Faass with Y Arts teen mentors to assist. For ages 6-12.
DRAWING & PAINTING
In this 7-Week class, students will work on pencil sketching and drawing along with painting. We will learn to draw and paint what we see. For ages 6-12.
STEM +M(USIC) (Currently not offered)
Did you enjoy STEM+M this summer at our Y Arts Camps?!? We decided to carry the fun on into the Fall with another session. Participants will work on various educational projects and experiments in a fun and supportive environment.
SONGWRITING WORKSHOP (Currently not offered)
Participants in this exciting new workshop will work with Arts Director, Emily Mirabile, to write lyrics and compose songs in a safe and supportive setting. The songs will be released online after the class has come to an end.
Keeping the Arts Alive! Join us on Fridays for theater fun in the Boothbay YMCA Annex. Participants will play theater games, rehearse scenes from our favorite musicals and shows, and learn routines from Broadway Musicals. Theater Camp in the winter… DON’T MISS THE FUN! For ages 7-14
